Biographie:
Vladimír Válek studierte Viola, Posaune und Dirigieren in Bratislava sowie an der Musikakademie in Prag. Nach zehn Jahren als Dirigent des Symphonieorchesters Prag wurde er 1985 Chefdirigent des RSO Prag, eine Position, die er bis heute innehat; seit 1996 dirigiert er auch die Tschechische Philharmonie und ist Gastdirigent verschiedener Rundfunkorchester in Deutschland, Österreich, Holland und großer Orchester in Europa und dem Fernen Osten.
Vladimír Válek arbeitete mit Solisten wie Igor Oistrach, Mischa Maisky, Heinrich Schiff und Vladimir Spivakov. Seine umfangreiche Diskographie umfasst über 100 Titel; seine Aufnahme der Klavierkonzerte von Erwin Schulhoff erhielt 1996 den Cannes Classical Award.
