Biographie:
PHACE ist seit vielen Jahren in der zeitgenössischen Musikszene sehr erfolgreich aktiv und zählt zu den innovativsten und vielfältigsten österreichischen Ensembles für zeitgenössische Musik. Neben dem Schwerpunkt der klassischen zeitgenössischen Kammermusik inkludiert das künstlerische Spektrum Musiktheaterproduktionen und spartenübergreifende Projekte mit Tanz, Theater, Performance, Elektronik, Video, DJs, Turntablisten, Installationen u.v.m.
Mehr als 200 Werke wurden bisher in Auftrag gegeben und uraufgeführt. 2010 wurde die Reihe PHACEx gestartet, die sich mit inszenierten »MUSIK-theatralischen« Räumen beschäftigt, in denen die Grenzen zwischen zeitgenössischer Musik, Performance, Elektronik, Klang- und Video(installation) verschwimmen. Der aktive Kern des Ensembles (10 MusikerInnen) wird regelmäßig mit MusikerInnen und Gästen aus den verschiedensten Kunstdisziplinen erweitert.
Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre ist das Ensemble mit Auftritten in den wichtigsten Konzerthäusern und bei renommierten Festivals in Österreich und im Ausland präsent (z. B. Wien Moden, Klangspuren Schwaz (Tirol), Salzburger Festspiele, Generator, Wiener Konzerthaus, Transart Bozen, Berliner Festspiele, Ultraschall Berlin, Salihara Festival Indonesien, SONEMUS Festival, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemäßer Musik). Seit der Saison 2012 / 2013 hat PHACE einen eigenen Zyklus im Wiener Konzerthaus.
