Biographie:
Jan Vogler, Schüler von Josef Schwab und Heinrich Schiff, begann seine musikalische Laufbahn 1984 als Konzertmeister der Staatskapelle Dresden – im Alter von nur 20 Jahren! 1997 gab er diese Position auf, um sich ganz auf seine internationale Solistenkarriere zu konzentrieren.
Zu deren bisherigen Höhepunkten zählen u. a. die Auftritte mit dem New York Philharmonic Orchestra unter der Leitung von Lorin Maazel. Sein Repertoire umfasst nicht nur die einschlägigen Werke der Cello-Literatur, sondern auch Tango-Kompositionen und zeitgenössische Stücke, z. B. das ihm gewidmete Konzert Dunkle Saiten von Jörg Widmann.
Zu Jan Voglers kammermusikalischen Tätigkeiten zählen neben Konzerten beim Moritzburg Festival, dessen künstlerischer Leiter er ist, Auftritte mit Partnern wie Hélène Grimaud, Martin Stadtfeld und Louis Lortie. Der Musiker wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet, u.a. dem ECHO Klassik und dem Europäischen Kulturpreis in der Sparte Musik (2006).
Seit Oktober 2008 ist Jan Vogler Intendant der Dresdner Musikfestspiele.
