Biographie:
Dániel Péter Biró ist Associate Professor / Førsteamanuensis an der Grieg Akademie der Universität von Bergen (Norwegen). Er studierte in den USA, in der Schweiz, in Ungarn, Deutschland, Österreich und Israel. 2004 erhielt er seinen Ph. D. von der Princeton University. Von 2004 bis 2009 war er Assistant Professor und von 2009 bis 2018 Associate Professor für Komposition und Musiktheorie an der University of Victoria in Victoria, BC (Kanada).
2010 erhielt er den Giga-Hertz-Produktionspreis des ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie) und des SWR Experimentalstudios. 2011 war er Gastprofessor an der Universität von Utrecht und von 2014 bis 2015 Research Fellow am Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study der Harvard University. 2015 wurde er in das College of New Scholars, Scientists and Artists der Royal Society of Canada aufgenommen.
2016 beendete er seinen Kompositionszyklus Mishpatim (Laws). 2017 erhielt er ein Guggenheim Fellowship für die Arbeit an einem neuen Kompositionszyklus, der auf Texten des Philosophen Baruch de Spinoza aus dem 17. Jahrhundert basiert. Dániel Péter Biró erhielt Kompositionsaufträge von berühmten Musikern, Ensembles und Festivals. Seine Kompositionen werden in der ganzen Welt aufgeführt.
