Biographie:
Die außergewöhnliche Karriere von Philippe Entremont (geboren 1934 in Reims, Frankreich) begann im Alter von achtzehn Jahren, als er in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall mit Jolivets Klavierkonzert und Liszts Klavierkonzert Nr. 1 weltweite Aufmerksamkeit erlangte. Seitdem verfolgt er eine internationale Spitzenkarriere als Pianist und seit nunmehr 50 Jahren auch auf dem Dirigentenpodium. Philippe Entremont spielte und machte Aufnahmen unter Dirigenten wie Eugene Ormandy, Leopold Stokowski, Fritz Reiner, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa und Pierre Boulez.
Er gab weltweit über 7000 Konzerte, davon mehr als 100 mit dem Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra. Er dirigierte die größten Symphonieorchester in Europa (u. a. Wiener Symphoniker, London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Göteborgs Symfoniker, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre national de France), Asien (u. a. China Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra) und USA (u. a. Philadelphia Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) und arbeitete mit den international berühmtesten Instrumental- und Vokalsolisten zusammen. 1976 ernannte ihn das Wiener KammerOrchester zum Ehrendirigenten auf Lebenszeit.
In den Jahren 2017 bis 2019 konzertierte er in Europa, China, Mexiko und den Vereinigten Staaten. 2018 war er Jury-Vorsitzender des Internationalen George Enescu Klavierwettbewerbs in Bukarest (Rumänien) und gründete die Summer Piano Residence in Fontainebleau (France). Im November 2019 nahm er im legendären Konzertsaal von La Chaux-de-Fonds (Schweiz) sein Icologram® auf. Philippe Entremont ist Offizier der Französischen Ehrenlegion, Träger des »Ordre des Arts et des Lettres« und Commandeur des Verdienstordens »Ordre du Mérite«. Darüber hinaus wurde er mit dem Großen Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich geehrt.
